Housekeeping Note for 6/14
I’m writing this cross-legged on the starchy, carpeted floor of what’s called the Family Lounge area of a hospital in Portland, Oregon — where I’ve been for the past few days, and where I expect to spend a lot more time in over the next few weeks, possibly months. I’ll skip the specifics, only to say that a dearly, dearly loved one has become very ill, that it happened very quickly, and that it happened without warning. We’ve crossed an initial hump and things feel a little calmer now, but in almost every possible version of the future, it looks like it’s going to get tougher and tougher from here on out.
I don’t know what’s going to happen and how long things will be this way, but at this point in time, I still expect to keep pushing out Hot Pod from next Tuesday onwards. Which is to say, I’m going to continue reporting and gathering information (so please keep your pitches and press releases coming), I’m going to keep meeting my commitments for both the Tuesday columns and the member newsletters (so expect me in your inbox at the same morning EST time periods), and I’m going to keep those takes as oven-fresh as possible.
(I will, however, have to skip this week’s member newsletters. I need to be 100% on this right now. Sorry, Hot Pod members — I’ll make it up to you somehow, at some point.)
It’s just that… well, who knows what’s going to happen, y’know? So in the unexpected circumstance that I miss a drop after this week, or if I seem curt or unlike myself, you’ll have some context as to why.
I’m also telling you this because I may be slower to respond than usual — on email, on Twitter, and so on. But again, I’ll be here.
Alright, I think that’s it.
In other news, I’ve never been to Oregon before. Looks like I’ll get to know it now.
See you next week.
