A distribution partnership, an evolution of sound, a reservation

Just got the press release this morning: AudioBoom has announced a “strategic partnership” with Deezer, the French audio streaming company, where “podcasters who use the audioBoom platform for hosting and distribution may now reach Deezer’s 12 million active users worldwide.” It’s essentially the very same distribution arrangement that we saw between Libsyn and iHeartRadio, where publishers hosted on the former get (theoretical) access to users of the latter while the latter gets more inventory to play with. Whether such arrangements are truly beneficial remain to be seen; one figures that has a lot to do with the UX design and prioritization of the consumption-side platform…
